Honduran Victory in Washington

The victory of democracy in Honduras is looking more secure than any time since Zelaya was removed. Investors Business Daily reports that the US State Department will no longer threaten sanctions against the country. They have found that there is no legal reason to claim that there has been a coup.

Great, the State Department manages in only five weeks to work out what large parts of the blogosphere discovered in a whole evening’s light research.

If Honduras can hold out until November (or earlier if the election that is due is rescheduled) then a great victory for democratic, free governance will have been won in a region desperately in need of such.

For background if you have not been following the situation I have written a few posts on the issue.
